reward yourselfThis article is going to show you a series of exercises that strengthen your positive thinking, exercises that are very easy to perform every day, as they don’t require special equipment or locations. If you do at least a few of them for a while, you’ll notice your life will become more positive and you’ll be able to deal with negative things easier.

1. Remove negative words from your usual vocabulary.

If you keep on repeating yourself you can’t do such and such thing, you’ll end up by truly not being able to do it.

2. Practice positive affirmations

Develop a set of positive affirmations you believe are suitable for you, then write them somewhere so you can have them in front of your eyes for the most past of the day. Repeat them each time you take a break from your work or when you’re commuting. Your subconscious mind will assimilate these positive affirmations, so you’ll see they will start to represent you more and more.

3. Believe in yourself

You have no reason to believe you are worth nothing. You are valuable in yourself as a human being, you are beautiful as you are and you should stop comparing yourself with others. You should also know that many things can be achieved in life if you are willing to put in the effort and the time needed to develop a skill and form a habit.

4. Learn to love and forgive yourself.

There are so many things that are tough in this life, that the last thing you need is a punishment from yourself. Be gentle, you should be your best friend and not kick yourself for things you did wrong. If you learned your lesson, it’s fine, everybody makes mistakes. This is how we learn, actually.

5. Reward yourself.

Whenever you do something right, celebrate it and reward yourself. It doesn’t have to be a big reward, a little gesture to help you acknowledge your success is fine. For instance, you could get that chocolate you’ve been refusing yourself for weeks. Anything goes, as long as you perceive it as a reward.

6. Avoid negative people

Don’t listen to those who say you won’t be able to succeed in what you want to do. Try to judge things yourself, because you are the only one who can actually know whether or not you are able of achieving something. It’s best to stay away from negative people. It may be hard when they belong to your family, but you can find ways of seeing less of them, without loving them less. You can always help them when they are in need, but you aren’t forced to spend your valuable time with them, if it is not a positive experience for you.

7. Seek for opportunity.

Look at everything as an opportunity for you, even if it comes disguised as a failure.

8. Practice mindfulness meditation

Meditation helps calming your mind and putting your thoughts in order. Mindfulness mediation is a practice in which you focus on parts of your body and try to maintain your attention there. If your mind wonders, you gently bring it back. This kind of practice will strengthen your ability to focus and will bring you happiness on long term.

9. Exercise daily

Even though this one seems totally unrelated to positive thinking, it has been proven that cardio exercise has a positive impact on the brain, not only on the rest of the body. This is why it’s ideal to find time for a little exercise every day, even if it is only for 30 minutes.

As you can see, it is not very complicated to educate yourself into a positive thinking spirit, if you are willing to put a little bit of effort into it. Just try it for a couple of months and you’ll notice an improvement in your mindset.
